Hi. I'm a gamer

Hello. My name is Lil. And I'm a gamer.

I never really thought I'd ever say that. The word has so many different connotations that it is a bit strange to attach my name to it. Having spent the past 5 years at Dragon*Con, you hear all kinds of things about gamers. They don't take baths, they're crazy fanboys/gamers who do nothing all day but game... plus certain things that I'll refrain from mentioning here but having to do with gamers having no real girlfriends, only animated ones. Oh, and of course all gamers are guys.

And yet now that I am one of them, I do not like said stereotypes.

This is not to say that the stereotypes aren't true. Many gamers will admit to these facts and the jokes about no baths for three days aren't far from the mark. The gaming room at Con isn't jokingly referred to as "The Hall of Virgins" for no reason. But at the same time, gamers are not all like this.

Take me for example. I play Guild Wars. This is currently the only online RPG I play, however I used to do RPG all the time. Mainly focusing on Star Trek or Lord of the Rings. Guild Wars is the first fantasy based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that I have ever played in. Saying to some one that I play Guild Wars is an automatic "geek/nerd" label. Not that I mind, but that is who is considered to play. (and of course I do fit a lot of those labels, though I think I'm more of the book geek/nerd rather than the computer nerd)

At not always girls. This isn't to say there are no girl gamers. There are plenty. But the majority are guys. In fact one time I was gaming in a co-operative mission and had some one ask if I was really a girl. Being as my character is female. I replied yes and the guy was a bit surprised...evidently some of the other gamers he had talked to weren't actually guys. Now that's just weird...

But all in all the world of online gaming is fun. Yes it is sad that I can't seem to convince any of my friends to play and in turn celebrate with me as I level up to level 14 and making it through Lions Arch and desperately trying to figure out how not to die in the Gates of Kryta mission...

That wasn't to confusing was it?

First things first

I can't remember excatly when I set up this blog. I'm sure it is posted somewhere, but I can't remember. The purpose of it to begin with was for me to have a place outside of LiveJournal to talk about things. And things outside of what I'm doing in a given day. Kind of like journalistic thoughts if you will. So far nothing has happened with this site.

Bad me.

So I am taking it upon myself to fix that. I will try my very hardest to update this blog as frequently as possible. It will be some of what I do daily, but also just random thoughts I have about life, the universe and everything. (42)
Plus I'm trying to take a picture a day (also known as Project 365) and can hopefully post pictures here for you to see.

That's all I'm going to say now, but hopefully there will be lots more to come!
